TechExpo 2010 - Definitely a "10"
As we who were part of the TechExpo 2010 team breath a collective sigh of relief, I have to raise a virtual glass and toast everyone for a job well done. All of us, our intrepid interns and student assistants, our speakers and exhibitors, our board members and committee chairs, our tireless Expo chair, Jason Stamm -- all of us -- put together a brilliant conference.
Between the truly compelling presentations on security, web 2.0 (3.0? Alfredo-point-oh?), and social media, I re-connected with many friends and colleagues. Despite my responsibilities for photographing the event (poorly) and keeping the social media humming, I actually did learn quite a bit, even while flitting from room to room. I can only imagine what someone who actually sat still came away with.
As it does each year, the Tallahassee area showed just how much technological talent and knowledge resides here. Our keynote speakers and other visiting presenters, as well, were top-notch and well prepared. You couldn't ask for more relevant topics or informative content.
This year marks a major milestone for TechExpo as our registration count crossed the 200 threshold, more than doubling that of prior years. Whether this is a sign of a rebounding economy, or just a sign of the savvy marketing skills of Mr. Stamm, Rob Knapton our membership chair, and others on our team, is probably a matter for debate. All I know is, we had a stunning turnout worthy of our speakers' excellent performances.
Thanks to everyone who came; who saw; who geeked out.
And if you missed this year's TechExpo, I have only this to say: Bad call, my friend, and better luck next year.
