Local Candidates to Discuss Goals for Business and Technology
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Local candidates will share their views on the future of business and technology in the Capital area on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the annual Tallahassee Technology (TalTech) Alliance Political Forum.
Candidates will discuss their goals and priorities for encouraging technology, building the local tech infrastructure, promoting innovation in classrooms and expanding the local technology business sector. Forum attendees also will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their own insights as part of this interactive forum.
Speakers will include candidates for Leon County Commission, Florida House of Representatives Districts 8 and 9, and the Leon County School Board. Each candidate will have three minutes to discuss his or her technology priorities for 2008-2009, followed by a question-and-answer discussion with the audience.
“This forum -- just one week prior to primary election day -- is an excellent opportunity for voters to interact directly with candidates about the pressing issues they face in their businesses, as well as the broader issues vital to our community on several levels such as the quality and reach of our technological infrastructure and technology based workforce development opportunities," said Elizabeth Smith, chair of the TalTech Alliance.
The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Datamaxx Group, located at 2001 Drayton Dr., off Capital Circle S.E., and is open to the public with pre-registration requested. Information is available online at www.taltech.org and attendees may register via email at admin@taltech.org. Admission is free for TalTech members; non-members may purchase a TalTech membership at the door or pay a $20 guest fee.
The TalTech Alliance is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit association dedicated to playing an active educational and informational role in nurturing tech-business and advancing Florida’s Capital region as a center for technological achievement in the southeast. The TalTech Alliance currently has 250 members representing more than 75 area technology-based companies, institutions and organizations. For more information about TalTech, visit www.taltech.org.
