Please join Adam Oliver, MD, neurosurgeon at Tallahassee Neurological Clinic and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH), for a discussion on the latest technological advancements in neurosurgery that are creating better outcomes for patients in our community. These advancements include new brain perfusion technology that calculates tissue viability in the brain during a stroke, allowing patients to receive life-saving treatments for longer periods after the onset of stroke; and 3D medical models that bring recreations of brain tissue into surgeons hands – allowing more advanced planning for complex surgical procedures – to treat brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVM). These 3D medical models are made possible through a one-of-a-kind partnership between TMH and Axial 3D, a UK-based medical technology firm focused on driving the global adoption of 3D printing within healthcare, and only available throughout the Southeast at Tallahassee Memorial.
Dr. Oliver was born in Tallahassee and raised along the Gulf Coast. After completing high school in Tallahassee, he enrolled at Loyola University in New Orleans, where he graduated with Honors in Biology in 2001. In 2006, Dr. Oliver graduated from medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Following medical school, Dr. Oliver moved to Memphis, TN for neurosurgical training at one of the oldest residency programs in the country, the University of Tennessee and Semmes-Murphey Clinic. He completed residency in 2012.
After residency, Dr. Oliver completed his dedicated fellowship in open cerebrovascular and endovascular treatment at Capital Health Institute for Neuroscience in Trenton, NJ. This specialized training qualifies Dr. Oliver to treat complex cerebrovascular disorders such as intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), acute stroke, and carotid artery disease through a combination of traditional open techniques and newer, minimal access endovascular techniques.
While Dr. Oliver has several publications ranging in subject from vascular disease to oncology and peripheral nerves, he is most passionate about providing the highest-quality patient care in his hometown.
